Alan Gruning D.O.

After 17 years of caring for acutely ill patients as an Emergency Medicine Specialist, Dr. Gruning left the Emergency Department in 2001 to provide the best possible care for auto accident injuries. After he developed Chronic Fatigue himself, Dr. Gruning did much additional study on natural therapies that heal and started on a journey that led into Functional Medicine. He discovered the work of Richie Shoemaker, MD with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and now concentrates on using his protocols as a Proficiency Partner, along with other Functional Medicine treatments, to provide healing and hope to complex patients for over 17 years.  He understands the importance of holistic treatment and spending time with the patient to fully evaluate their complaints.

Dr Gruning is a Christian physician and seeks to heal the whole person-body, mind and spirit-because that is what provides the greatest long term success for our patients.  He is the author of Prescription for Health, a comprehensive guide to living a balanced life in a toxic world, and was the host of his own TV program of the same name, still visible on his YouTube channel.  He is the founder, Executive and Medical Director of Christian Medical Ministries since 2010.  CMM runs the Mold Illness Treatment Centers and the Southwest Florida Free PainClinic.  These are the only free medical clinics in the US specializing in the comprehensive treatment of low income, underinsured patients with CIRS and acute and chronic pain.  He is the founder of the Christian CIRS Network, an organization of Christian Shoemaker certified physicians, IEP’s and Educators.  Dr. Gruning lectures frequently about numerous topics to many different groups around SW Florida and at national conferences.
